Feeling Stuck? Take an Inspiration Bath...
Over the past few months I had been feeling a bit stuck. It’s still very wintery here in the northeast. The trees are still bare, and the air is still cold, and all I want is bare feet and sundresses and campfires and hikes lined with wild flowers.
I had also been feeling a bit creatively stuck… the inspiration vibes just weren’t flowing like they had before. Somewhere along the river of my creative expression I could feel a block.
When talking to friends and seeing some other posts on Instagram I realized I wasn’t the only one. So I wanted to share what I do when I find myself stuck in a rut. Whether it’s just been a bum couple days, weeks or months, these are some of the ways I get back to riding the wave of flow, creativity, and the feeling of “everything is going right.”
My main solution - Take an Inspiration Bath!
Soak yourself in as much good stuff as you can. Whatever that means for you! When I'm feeling stuck I like to listen to podcasts. My two favorites at the moment are Don't Keep Your Day Job (absolutely filled with inspiring stuff) and the Art of Visuals Podcast.
I love podcasts when I’m feeling stuck because all I have to do is sit back and listen and be inspired. I'm not even taking the effort to read (although that can be really helpful too!).
We are sponges. We are constantly soaking up the energy and information around us. So it makes sense that changing what we allow ourselves to soak in, would change how we feel!
So ask yourself! What is your favorite channel for inspiration? Maybe it’s reading a good book or watching an uplifting show or YouTube videos. Maybe it’s listening to music that just pumps you up. Or putting on your favorite outfit and just wander around town.
Whatever makes you feel good, just do it. Because it’s not what your doing that matters, but that good feeling, that breaks through the stuck. Simply feeling joy will open the door for you, and lead the way back into flow...
